Sensational metalcore and thrash metal bands Killswitch Engage and Anthrax are bringing their signature sounds to the State Theater!
Killswitch Engage was formed in Westfield (Massachusetts) in 1999 by former members of bands Overcast and Aftershock and is named after an episode of renowned TV series, The X-Files. The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Joel Stroetzel (rhythm guitar), Mike D'Antonio (bass), Adam Dutkiewicz (lead guitar and backing vocals), Jesse Leach (lead vocals), and Justin Foley (drums). Their musical style is best described as metalcore; a broad fusion genre of extreme metal and hardcore punk, noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages that are conducive to moshing. They've had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 1 video album, 17 singles, and they've sold over four million records in the U.S. They've received many accolades including 3 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards (for Best Album, Best International Band, and Best Live Band), and 2 Boston Music Awards (for Outstanding Metal/Hardcore Band of the Year and Act of the Year). They've also been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards, 3 Loudwire Music Awards, 2 more Boston Music Awards, and another Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award.
